Year after year Tawse puts out some fairly expensive wines (according to the average wine drinker’s budget) that receive good reviews and are very well made. But ever since releasing their ‘Sketches’ line Tawse has been able to introduce those ‘average consumers’ (the under $20 crowd) to excellent wines at excellent prices … the most consistent of these wines is the Sketches Riesling, and this year they have made another serious Riesling lovers Riesling. Candied pear and apple on the nose with hints of peach on the palate along with a huge kick to the tongue of lime and bracing acidity, which helps clean the palate, there is also a nice touch of sweetness to balance out that big acid bite. Another great Sketches Riesling from the folks at Tawse, and very reasonably priced. Price: $17.95 – Rating: ****½
