Tawse 2007 Growers Blend Pinot Noir
I read a review recently that stated this wine was a "light" wine … I totally disagree, I have to wonder aloud what wine the reviewer was trying. This wine is as far from light as it is far from typical. 2007 was an atypical year for Ontario growers and wineries and thus made atypical, yet wonderful, reds. First the color is on the deeper side of the red spectrum. The nose has black and sour cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cinnamon, and blackberry with hints of spice and sandalwood. The flavors that fill the mouth are mainly black cherry, vanilla and cinnamon; nice soft tannins carry you along on to the long finish, which is loaded with black fruit and cinnamon … now does that sound light to you? Even if it's lighter than other Pinots coming out of Tawse this year that does not make this wine "light". Not what your dad would call a classic Pinot Noir, but very delicious none the less.
