Here`s a Chardonnay that`s worth taking a chance on. From the Quarry Road Vineyard, the same vineyard Tawse`s lovely Gewurztraminer comes from, come the grapes for this oaked Chardonnay. The nose delivers a one-two punch of vanilla and pear, while the palate shows off quite a bit of complexity amongst the whopping bite of acidity (a hallmark of the 2009 whites). Lots of butter leads the charge then hazelnut, vanilla, caramel and mineral helps finish the palate. This wine needs a little time to settle and I believe 3-4 years should do the trick nicely.
