16 Mile Cellar 2011 Chardonnay, "Civility"

Soon 16 Mile Cellar will be using their own fruit, but for this 2011 they purchased the lot from Ed Hughes, made the wine at the Henry of Pelham property and utilized the know how of Thomas Bachelder.  18 months in about 20% new oak has given this Chardonnay a fresh. clean delicacy that mixes fruit with a kiss of oak (hard to believe after 18 months).  Aromas of peach, mac apple and vanilla, all very subtle ... palate kicks it up a notch with vanilla cream, green apple, peach pit and peach puree with great acidity on the finish; as the wine warms in the glass beauty butterscotch note also appears on the nose and palate.
