Trius’ first foray into the world of Shiraz was shepherded by Australian-born winemaker Craig McDonald, part of the duo that brought Shiraz to Ontario via Creekside; so there was never a doubt he’d sooner of later bring Trius down the path – and he’s come out of the gate with a winner. Low alcohol (12.4%), with the addition of 5% Viognier and aged 10 months in neutral French oak; these are the technical details – as for the aromas and flavours, it’s pretty textbook: floral and peppery notes along with cassis and black raspberry fruit.
