It’s the rosé you don’t see coming that really can surprise you … the 2016 Leaning Post rosé was an average affair with 26 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 74% Gamay that served up seemingly sweet fruit and mediocre finish … This year it’s entirely the opposite. The Gamay is toned down to 58% while the Cabernet makes up 22% and now in comes Syrah and Cabernet Franc to round off the blend and fill in some gaps – and wow what a difference a year makes. Grapefruit, lime and raspberry with cherry and tropical fruit sing out of the glass, but the palate is dry with great acidity, sure there’s a sweet fruit mid-palate, which kicks in before a tart white grapefruit finish … and the next sip is even better. Hello summer, this is your wine.
