This single barrel Melon was bottled unfiltered, was naturally fermented (aka: wild) and rested on lees for its full 18 months in an “old, gnarly” barrel … well, that gnarly barrel must have been sprinkled with fairy-dust because this might just be one of the best Ontario Melons I have tasted: cantaloupe, lime, apple, pear with a hint of mineral, all jockeying for position on the palate – there’s also great texture in the mouth and a beauty pineapple core finish – it’s not sweet, despite what you might think – it’s just totally delicious.
