Marynissen 2015 Heritage Red

A prime example of how to piss off customers. This wine started out at $19.95 and because demand was so high they inched the price up to what you see now – there’s a tale of idiocy here but let’s focus on the wine first: a 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% each Merlot and Cabernet Franc with 24 months in a mix of French and American oak, 60% of which was new … then bottled unfiltered: a real delight of mocha/chocolate, blackberry, black cherry, vanilla and cinnamon – great value at $19.95, but much less so at its current level – and a prime example of how to piss off your customers, especially for a winery that has been suffering from both an identity and quality problem and needed to bolster some favour from clientele – new and old alike.
