Either Jonas Newman is getting better at his craft or … ok, there really is not an or, he just is. This Etoiles might just be Jonas’ best to date – 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir with about 3 years on lees, and as Jonas says “taken from the middle pressings”. The result is a beauty-bubble that starts off with lemon, lime, mineral and leesy notes, follows it up with green apple, vibrant acidity and great length … this 2014 has finesse and elegance, if you can taste the difference between this and true-Champagne well then you’re just trying too hard (or just flat out lying).
