Rosehall Run 2016 Chardonnay, JCR Rosehall Vineyard

Rosehall’s winemaker/owner Dan Sullivan, seems to have found his groove with Chardonnay.  Here he’s following up the award winning 2015 with this (could be even better) 2016 model of the JCR which is “da bomb”. It’s barrel fermented then spends 16 months in larger 500L oak barrels of which between 50-60% is new oak (all French) the less wood to juice ratio helps to keep the fruit intact but also gives the wine a lovely texture and weight: Dan’s signature balance of creamy-acid-mineral and spice is in evidence plus buttered almonds, apple, vanilla, butterscotch, baked peach, apple cobbler, and so much more seems to come from the glass with each sniff and each sip … it’s another beautiful bottle of Rosehall Chardonnay – the only thing different about it is the year on the label … that’s called consistency folks.
