Another one of those appassimento wines popular with some Ontario winemakers … but only 20% of this Franc sees the drying process; then it spends 18 months in French oak … nice depth of flavour here with plenty of complexity to go around: cocoa-strawberry, cherry, raspberry, tobacco and smoke – more fruit forward than anything else but it’s that lovely spiced finish that really makes this something special.  Price: $34.95 – Rating: ****+
