Two things to really love about this wine: 1) the flavor profile and 2) it is made using a grape not often seen on its own. Within this Petit Verdot, there’s also 2.5% of appassimento-ed Merlot that adds an extra layer of depth and silkiness. 20 months in 30% new oak has resulted in grippy tannins that needs time to settle, but also hides lovely floral, smoky raspberry and black cherry notes … the acidity ties it all together. A unique wine to pour with friends – just to have them guess what it is. Price: $49.00 – Rating: ****+
