An interesting note about this wine: Trius’ winemaker Craig McDonald wants to put Trius into the mix when talking about Ontario Pinot Noir – it’s a steep hill to climb, but he continues to show he’s up for the challenge. Clone 115 with 2 weeks of skin contact, then 10 months in 25% new French oak. It’s gritty and smoky with cassis, blackberry and a balsamic-strawberry fruit; there’s even a little smoked-beet, burnt-cherry and a toasty finish … this needs a little more time to resolve itself, but it will.
