Trius 2019 Sauvignon Blanc

Haven’t tasted a Sauvignon Blanc from Trius this good since Darryl Brooker left for British Columbia, leaving us with his masterful 2009 edition. Now 10 years later his replacement (and friend) Craig McDonald throws out his own stunner. Outstanding aromatics kicks this one off, follows in the mouth with peach, grapefruit and bitter melon then adds notes of honeydew, peach pit and citrus which helps to carry the wine forward. The finish lingers with grapefruit pith, pretty standard fare – but with all that comes before the wow factor has already been established.  Price: $15.95 – Rating: *** ½+
