Nyarai Cellars 2012 Sauvignon Blanc
Full disclosure about Nyarai Cellars ... and I won't do this before every review of wine for this winery, but I feel I should here. I know winemaker and label owner Steve Byfield quite well (he was best man at my wedding) and I always take longer than I should to review his wines so as not to show favoritism. That all said I may also be a little tougher on him than other reviews based on our friendship. This 2012 version Sauvignon Blanc is different than previous year's version of his flagship wine: the nose shows the typical citrus in the form of grapefruit pith and orange blossom, but there's also a hint of tropicality ... the flavours on the palate have a massive hit of citrus namely grapefruit and orange with plenty of acidity on the finish loaded with citrus zest and rind of the above grapefruit and orange. Price: $19.95 - Rating: *** 1/2+
