Although production of this wine has doubled, due to recent expanded planting finally coming on line, the Black Paw Pinot is still 1/4 of the Red Paw vineyard's output. This year the Black Paw demands some serious attention - the nose has got beet, cassis, and earthy along with some hidden cherry elements ... the palate is dark, brooding and complex with some gritty tannins, earthy character, black cherry notes and interesting mouth feel. This is no shrinking violet - it's the more powerful brother to the Red Paw's delicacy ... check out the other half of this interesting pair. Price: $29.95 - Rating: ****+
