It was only a few years ago that people like JL Groux (winemaker for Stratus) scoffed at the notion of this grape in Ontario - but now comes a single variety wine from the wise, bearded one and it shows his usual finesse. The nose is spicy and peppery with raspberry being the prominent fruit. Palate is one of those that'll have you scratching your head sip after sip: sweet bacon, balsamic, pepper and spice before raspberry and strawberry settle in ... acidity is solid so this isn't some sweet mess and ends with a spicy long finish that seems to develop into a chocolate linger - wow!
