To say this wine is kick-ass seems almost an under-statement. This Pinot is from the Lowrey Vineyard which planted their vines back in 1984 – it is rumoured to be the oldest Pinot planting in Niagara. The nose is pretty with floral notes, yet has plenty of fruit to drive it home. Palate is cran-cherry with raspberry and a lovely tartness that serves to refresh the palate rather than overwhelm it. There is such a richness and depth of fruit and spice to this wine that it’s almost impossible to put it down. Don’t leave the bottle unattended – or it is liable to disappear. Price: $44.95 – Rating: **** ½
