This is the second label from Stratus winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and if you pay careful attention you can get some great cast-offs for half the price of the name brand. I make it sound very Winners-like and with this brand it is, you are the winner in this second tier because everything goes through the same process as the first tier except these wines just didn’t make the cut into the ‘Grand Cuvee’ … this Riesling really shows the quality that must be in the big brother of this wine. Delicious apple and peach aromatics that just envelop the nose and draw you to the center of the glass. Nice acidity is found on the tongue and there is just a tip-toe through the sweetness garden before hitting that lovely finish. This is a very good wine for the price. Price: $19.95 – Rating: ****
