Smith & Wilson 2005 Three Belles
Cherries … you read about there presence in many wines: smells of, or tastes of, bing cherries, sour cherries, sweet cherries … but what about a wine made from cherries – Montmorency cherries for that matter … then there would be no doubt about the taste and the smell. This semi-sweet number has cherry taste, lots of big cherry taste, so what more is there to report, right? How about a cherry wine that drinks itself in stages: 1) Great sweet cherry nose. 2) Sweet cherries in the front and mid-palate. 3) Ending with a slight sour cherry finish and touch of tartness. What a great little summertime patio sipper, or anytime you need to relive those summer days during the harsh cold days of winter. It also made for a great fall patio wine too – in the fading light of a fall evening as I wrapped myself up in a fleece. The best part of this wine is it’s great sweet cherry nose – making what the palate taste even better. Delicious.
