Black Prince Winery has the distinction of being one of the two wineries from which I purchased one of my 2 bottles, bought back in 2004; so I was looking forward to returning and sample something else. This 2004 Cabernet France is a soothing wine, because it doesn’t strive to be anymore than what it is, an easy-drinking, light-bodied wine, good with a wide variety of foods (on this night meatloaf and mildly sauced short ribs). There’s some mild green pepper and sweet tobacco on the nose, while in the mouth there’s cherry and smoked meat. In short a quaffable, yet versatile red.
