Ontario’s only off the grid winery offers only 2 wines, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris … “Off the Grid” means they do not use conventional energy to power the winery, instead they use 6 solar panels to charge eight 6-volt batteries, which gives them 1.2 kilowatt hours, enough power to run the winery for 3-days without sunlight. The 2007 wines are their first offerings. The Pinot Gris has a nice balance of apple and floral notes on the nose with a nice Bartlett pear finish. Price: $17.95 – Rating: ***½
