A blend of 53% Merlot, 25% Syrah and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, all taken from the oldest vines on the property (30 years for the Sauv and Merlot, 20 years for the Syrah). The name is a reference to the dates they bottled, barreled and released this wine. 364 days in all new French oak barrels, aged from Winter Solstice 2007 to Winter Solstice 2008 then removed from barrel and blended into tank – left there until it was bottled on the Summer Solstice 2009. The result is a big mineral driven red with sweet licorice and black cherry on the nose with lots of black fruit and big tannins on the palate, this one’s a wine to lie down for sure. John Marynissen may be gone but he's smiling down on winemaker Jeff Hundertmark for keeping his legacy alive. Price: $22.00 - Rating: ****½
