DiProfio Wines 2011 Gamay
It's surprising that in a climate like Ontario good Gamay is so hard to find - limited to a very few number of wineries doing it right. Now, I'm not saying that upstart winery DiProfio is in that elite group (yet) but they sure did get a good start on joining them with this tasty offering. Aged a mere 6 months in French oak, the wine has kept it's loads of cherry fruitiness (both red and black) with just a touch of tannins. Bring out that fruit with a chill, or keep it at room temperature to get some bite from those tannins. Either way this is a very tasty wine. Only 146 cases produced. Price: $16.95 - Rating: *** 1/2+
