Le Clos Jordanne 2005 Village Reserve Pinot Noir
I've tried this wine at least three times now, and each time I think I’m drinking a different wine - and on at least two of those occasions I had no idea it was even Pinot Noir. The nose has none of that tell-tale earthiness I've come to expect from Pinot ... it's loaded with rich cherry and rhubarb nuances, maybe even some subtle herbs. The taste also has a richness to it, sour cherries dominate, and only on one occasion did the earthy-tannins show up, the other two times there was no earth, but there were still those fuzzying tannins; but each time there was also a hint of vanilla that shows up to make this one quite pleasant. This is one of those wines the changes and evolves, seemingly from bottled the bottle ... but it is also very good from bottle to bottle.
