This Merlot hails from Niagara fruit, but owner Paul Gallagher admits, "I just like Merlot and wanted to work with it." Two and a half years in neutral oak barrels (only 3 in total) gives it a gentle oak flavour with good fruit character. Blueberry, blackberry and black cherry dominate with nice seasoning and juiciness through the palate, and yet there is still a nice acid-based finish to the fruit. Price: $20.00 - Rating: ****
