Baco is not my favourite grape ... most of those who produce it make some pretty terrible wine ... those are that's pretty harsh words, so let's suffice it to say it's not my favourite grape - and leave it at that. But I'm not opposed to telling you about a good one when I find it. Henry of Pelham is arguably the best Baco producer in Niagara, and one of three consistent producers in Ontario. The nose is leathery with raspberry aromas backing it. The palate is pretty smoky and has good fruit backing of black cherry, Black Bart licorice sticks and vanilla - what makes this a great accompaniment to food is the nice acidic backbone the wine ride through the mouth.
