I was sitting around with some friends recently and someone piped up saying they really liked Baco Noir. Being the real s**t disturber I am I decided to put that assertion to the test by yanking a few out for analysis. Amongst them was this Lacey Estates 2008 version. Smoky, leathery and meaty aromas dominated, while black fruit played a more cursory role. The palate proved to be tangy and slightly bitter, my friend offered up "Old Bordeaux" as a descriptor with some "meaty weight" ... that sounds like a compliment if I do say so myself.
