I was a big fan of the 2006 version of this wine; 2007 was a much better growing season than 2006 – now that’s an understatement I can live with … 07 was one of , if not the best season ever, in Niagara (all of Ontario actually). So a heat-loving grape like Shiraz was going to benefit from the mucho-heat of 2007. This Shiraz falls closer in line with typical Shiraz than the 2006’s: the nose is big with plum, white pepper, sour red cherry and a hint of caraway seeds. The palate brought more Shiraz characteristics than the nose and thankfully dropped the caraway (not a fan of this seed myself): plum, blackberry, spicy, pepper, good acidity with a delicious red cherry finish.
