I hope you Baco lovers out there have heard me talk about the holy trinity of Ontario Baco, one in each region of the province. This wine comes from one of those three. Dennis Sanson treats Baco (a hybrid) like he would any vinifera and it shows. The nose is dark with fruit, namely blackberry, black raspberry and dark plum, plus a nice hint of vanilla. The palate is a delicate blend of more dark: plum, blackberry, black cherry and lovely anise notes - deliciously flavourful; hard to believe it's made with such a much maligned grape. Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****+
