Hidden Bench 2009 Pinot Noir
This is one impressive Pinot and shows that maybe Harald Thiel (owner) and the folks at Hidden Bench might be on to something in their little corner of Niagara. All French oak and 16 months worth of it. Let's start with the nose which is lovely and fruit forward but also has violets and floral delicacy. The palate is a pure delight for Pinot fans offering up juicy cranberry and cherry with hints of those floral notes and plenty of delightful acidity to keep it all in balance. This is one of th best Pinots I have tasted coming out of Hidden Bench - this wine just has so much going for it. But now for those occasions that you'll deem necessary for a fine Pinot. Price: $38.20 - Rating: **** 1/2
