Legends 2010 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
Here's a Sauvignon Blanc that truly is interesting. When most folks think of Sauvignon Blanc they think of the New Zealand version with plenty of grassy, goosy and grapefruit smells and tastes. Winemaker Serge Papineau is not looking for those characteristics in his Savvy B wines, instead he's looking for tropical notes to be all the way thru plus a little something extra. First the wine is barrel fermented (14 days) then spends another 2 months in barrel with a stirring of the lees weekly ... this gives the wine a little weight in the mouth. So while the nose doles out those tropical smells and the palate also delivers tropical and melon rind notes you'll also find some creamy vanilla and spiced notes on the finish.
