For those who shy away from Gamay, shame on you. Especially when you have access to such wonderful examples of what can be done with this grape, like this Peller version, right here in Ontario. Gamay is not a bruiser like Cabernet or Shiraz, it's delicate and yet has so much flavour when put together properly. 9 months in a mix of French (70%) and American (30%) older (2+ years) oak barrels has given the wine the structure and flavour it requires for pure Gamay enjoyment: a nose rich in cherry-raspberry and vanilla; while the palate has cherry, strawberry and spice notes along with a black cherry finish that keeps all that fruit front and centre.
