Ravine Vineyard 2010 Reserve Cabernet Franc - Picone Vineyard
If the name Picone Vineyard somehow jogs your memory then you're obviously a fan of Riesling (it's the place where Charles Baker Wines gets their fruit) - well Ravine takes what's left on the vineyard in the form of Cabernet Franc. There's a pretty elegance here. The nose reveals very little at this time, but the palate more than makes up for it, exploding with fruit in the mouth, namely black raspberry ... super sweet ripe fruit without sugar sweetness. But if that were all it wouldn't be such a super wine, it'd be at best average. But this wine has a Bits n' Bites effect in the mouth: "next sip, whole new ballgame", and it keeps you coming back for more to taste and explore ... what's more, there's a lovely spiced-tobacco that kicks in on the finish to compliment the fruit.
