Stanners 2009 Pinot Noir
Ever get a wine onto the table - or more appropriately, into your glass, sniff and taste and think: "I want more...", not in the I-gottta-get-me-more-of-this kinda way, but in the "is this all there is" kinda way. Two reasons for that: bad wine or too young. That was my feeling here, but the reason is the jeunesse of the wine not that it is poorly made. This wine needs a couple of years in bottle to pull it out of its funky slump. Floral, sour cherry, earthy and raspberry smells are followed up by cranberry, rhubarb and herbal notes on the palate - maybe a little too dry and gritty on the finish at this time ... give it some time and the rewards will be yours, but for now, let it rest. Price: $35.00 - Rating: ***+
