Norman Hardie 2009 'Cuvee L' Pinot Noir
Norm knows he's hit a home run with this one, he all but told me - okay I don't think he used the term 'home run' but he might as well have, suffice it to say he is extremely proud of this one. A blend of 60-40 Niagara to County fruit aged on average 17 months, 6 of which as blended wine. The nose doles out floral, cran-cherry and spiced raspberry notes, while the palate blends the backbone of Niagara Pinot with the delicacy of County Pinot seamlessly. There's a really good mix of fruit, spice and acidity: cranberry, cherry, raspberry, strawberry all show up at one time or another in the mouth and all backed by a spice that lingers pleasantly on the tongue with good recurring acidity. Cellar for 3 more years, drink over the next 10+. Price: $69.00 - Rating: *****
