Thirty Bench 2012 Red
The Thirty Bench Red is as consistent year to year as their winemaker's Riesling blend ... in good years (like 2012 & 2010) it's great and in off-years (2009 & 2011) it's still good, just a more drink sooner kinda wine. I have high hopes for the 2012, just like I did / do for the 2010 (I still have 6 in the cellar of each). The blend is a rare Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with 51% of the grape, followed by 27% Cabernet Franc and only 22% Merlot - the resulting wine has aromas of blackberry, cassis and black cherry, while the palate is all blackberry, cassis and mocha with silky tannins - this wine is going places and you'll want to go along for the ride with it. Price: $24.00 - Rating: ****½
