Coyote’s Run 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon – “Dave Sheppard 30th Vintage”
For Dave’s 30th vintage Coyote’s Run decided to release 2 special wines, the previous was a Gewurztraminer, and the newest is a 9-barrel selection 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 18 months in 2nd and 3rd use French oak. 2012 was a great vintage and Dave has done a marvelous job of creating a 10+ year ageable red that shows real power and elegance (which is no easy feat). Nose is mocha, black cherry and spice; the palate is a monster with big dark fruit, whacks of spice and plenty of tannin bite upfront, but it does give a little ground to reveal a lovely silky finish. Happy 30th Dave, another great job. Price: $36.95 – Rating: **** ½
