Domaine Queylus 2011 Pinot Noir, Grande Reserve
You may have read my reviews of the Queylus wines – you’ve heard about the west side and centre cut wines – this one takes advantage of those Pinot grapes on the east side of each of the two vineyards. Nose is very spicy with strawberries dipped in white pepper, but also with a lovely violet note to keep things on an even keel. Taste is tight yet textured with its spicy-strawberry, blackberry, cassis, cedar bite and grippy spicy tannins. Price: $59.95 – Rating: ****
