I've come not to expect much from Gamay Nouveau, it's the bellwether of a vintage, it's not meant to be that earthy-shattering wine we quest our whole wine-lives to find. This year's Reif version isn't transcendental but it sure does kick you in the mouth with a ton of acidity (which bodes well for Riesling and other grapes that are going to demand acidity as its backbone) - there is also nice grape and cherry flavours and aromas that come out of this one - think Kool-Aid without the sweetness; at this price it's worth checking out what Ontario might be offering in the 2014 wines.
