You'd expect an 18 month-aged Franc in both American and French oak, all new, to show lots of that oak character, but thankfully you'd be wrong. Aromas of raspberry and pipe tobacco lead to a silky palate with spiced-raspberry and fresh tobacco; but those tannins rise up on the finish, making feel robust and bite back on the tongue with some grit and grip - but I still find this wine amazingly drinkable now (ageable for another 5-6 years).
