Grapes for this wine are grown in the Barn Vineyard, then age 16 months in French oak (53% new) and if that's not enough, 50% of the wine goes through wild fermentation ... I also later found out there is some Dijon clone in the blend, which explains why it was one of my favourite CheckMate Chardonnays: peach, pear, vanilla and hints of mineral play in what is seemingly a creamy mouthfeel, while it's a delicate array of white fruit and spice that lingers a long time on the finish ... very pretty.
