If you have never had a Hawkes Bay Syrah from New Zealand you’re missing out – and this Left Field is a great place to start your journey of discovery: kicking things off with a meaty note along with spice, black cherry and smoky-cassis and some balancing acidity and tannins that keep the wine lively and fresh while still tossing in some white pepper for fun on the finish.  (*** ½+)
