There’s an old saying about something being “The Cat’s Ass” – which I think means it’s something really great (I guess that’s why they lick them all the time), and during my tasting at the All Canadian Wine Championships this was my favourite Gamay of the bunch, and what a beauty it is: hints of earthiness keep this wine grounded, and it needs it for balance because of that gorgeous sweet fruit of cherry with mocha backing and a dry finish that seems to keep the fruit at the forefront. Needs to be experienced over an evening, not just tasted and forgotten.
