As a wine writer I can tell you there are wines that get put in front of you once, twice, three times or more and each time you try it the wine gets better and better … I first tried this during a D’Abruzzo tasting and at the time I was impressed at both its value and taste, one of the best in the room for both. I then got a chance to taste it during a Vintages tasting and again was impressed by it. Finally, I got a chance to taste it with food and was blown away by its balance, delicacy and lovely fruit core: black fruit forward with black cherry dominating followed by moments of cocoa, mocha and even a hint of leather and spice on the finish, that does not overwhelm but does show some age-ability. Worth a multiple pick up at the LCBO and perfect with meat dishes and even sipped on in front of the fireplace. (LCBO #573675)
