Derek Barnett is at it again, making delicious Chardonnay from Ontario fruit – this, his third go around under his own label ‘Meldville’ – named after his childhood hometown. This 2017 is not as robust and in your face as the two previous editions, but that does not mean it’s not a good wine. With 30% new French oak it’s pleasant with white butter, lots of spice, apple and even some spiced-peach to round it off.
