I’m not sure how many people know that Ontario winemaking icon Karl Kaiser loved Sauvignon Blanc, that’s one bit of information that his daughter, Andrea (Drea), imparted when she created this love letter to her departed father, with the help of the folks at Reif. This inaugural vintage hits the mark with its mac apple notes, gooseberry and citrus, plus the grapefruit rind finish loaded with fresh acidity and intensity … what I did find super interesting is that after an hour open the wine developed some banana skin nuances in the aroma department, now that’s a cool trick – on the other hand, keeping this wine around for an hour once open is also a feat all its own.
