A Pinot Noir celebrating Dave Sheppard’s first full vintage with Flat Rock. It’s a wine made on a “super small scale” that sees everything done by hand from picking to labeling each bottle; there’s whole cluster pressing and finished in 2 new barrels for 14 months – in the end 40 cases were produced in total, and it may never be made again (so it comes off as a collectors wine too). Lots of lovely dark fruit: black cherry and black raspberry along with big tannins and smoky notes that lead to a rich robust finish loaded with cassis and cranberry … there’s a real Oregon-like feel to this wine and being that it comes from Ontario is the real fascination. Price: $70.00 – Rating: **** ½
