This Viognier comes from the Fielding vineyard and surprisingly spends a long 18 months in older French oak which helps give the wine an interesting creaminess, but also manages not to detract from the acidity and long finish, plus the tropical fruit, pear and grapefruit (zest and pith) notes that appear on the mid-palate are alluring and welcome. Only 175 cases produced, and they may go fast if everyone gets to taste this. Price: $24.95 – Rating: ****
