11 months in French oak with only one-fifth new – but all wild ferment … yes wild ferment gives Chardonnay a certain “je ne sais quoi” that I really enjoy, and this Southbrook wine has it: vanilla and apple with a floral note making it pretty to sniff – there’s also some pleasant pear, good acidity and a silky-creaminess about the palate that puts up a good fight with that acidity.  Price: $35.00 – Rating: ****
